"We learn more from failure than from success."

ReplyDeleteIf the title "Islamic finance" is emotionally charged, and we have a neutral title available, why label it "Islamic"?
The goal is to utilize a beneficial finance structure, not to provide accolades to Islam (regardless of whether it deserves them or not).
I think people can adopt Islamic finance principles without being Muslim but the system is built on Islamic doctrine so there's really no other term for it.
ReplyDeleteI think the name is emotionally charged only if people want it to be. We often talk about the “Protestant Work Ethic” without a particularly religious connotation, simply a cultural effect. I think Islamic finance can be viewed in the same way.
My hope is people will be open minded enough to see past religious propaganda to objectively evaluate its benefits and flaws.
