People I’m Following on Twitter

One of the things I love about the internet is the concept of it as a Marketplace of Ideas. Here is a place where our ability to share ideas is practically limitless because our reach is so wide yet the barriers to entry are so small.

Everyone can participate.

There is no central body deciding how we should interact, no government agency decides how I should use my social media accounts. People—individuals—just put ideas out there and if you like them you jump on.

It’s spontaneous order.

So when my friend (and I use the term loosely though not unaffectionately) Chris Brogan suggested a new way of recommending people to follow on Twitter I thought it sounded like a pretty good idea.

So here’s my list, in no particular order:

@WorkinonaRamp: Jenny McCoy always has a unique take on things and is shockingly candid about her life. Funny, but makes you go, hmm…

@ConsciousMeblog: Carlos Velez’s new blog focuses on attitudinal self-improvement.

@TheJakers: Jake Johnson is a community builder. He works as a ghostwriter but it’s his outlook on life that really makes him worth following.

@KellyDiels: A classic. Her blog Cleavage is one of the best philosophy blogs online. Hands down.

@JustinKownacki: A staple in the social media space, he’s surprisingly grounded given his web presence.

@WritingRoads: Julie Roads shares her observations about writing and life. She is expansively well-read. I enjoy getting her links because I never know where she’s been exploring.

@BinduWiles: A down to earth resource for any occasion. An instant friend with sage advice.

@DerekHalpern: His blog Social Triggers is one of the best sites I’ve seen on social media. His posts are informative, concise and actionable. Above all, his site has the cleanest layout I’ve ever seen. It’s like art. I print out screen captures to decorate my apartment. (It’s that good.)

So there you have it. I’m looking forward to reading a list on your site sometime soon. Until then, here’s to keeping Twitter’s Follow Friday (#FF) a little cleaner.

Have a great weekend.
